Serving as a board member of our society offers the rewarding opportunity to affect change within both the black and scientific communities. We have the ability to foster a new community centered around the identity of being black scientist, and to positively impact our peers and improve their quality of life. If you are creative, organized, and have a lot of ideas about ways to improve the school and career experiences for our members, we would love for you to join us!
We currently seek to fill the following positions:
Secretary – The Secretary is responsible for keeping meticulous organization of the society’s documentation and communication. The secretary files all necessary registrations and renewals with both state and federal governments. The Secretary records and documents meeting minutes from governing board meetings.
Treasurer – The society’s Treasurer is responsible for the accounting, budgeting, and bookkeeping for the society. The treasurer develops financial reports about the state of the society’s finances and prepares the society’s tax documentation. The treasurer manages the donations, revenue and expenses of the society.
Conference Chair – The society’s Conference Chair is the head of the Conference committee and is responsible for the planning and preparation for the society’s annual conference. The Conference Chair coordinates the venue, date, location, vendors, agenda and speakers for the conference.
Membership Services Chair – The society’s Membership Services Chair is the head of the Membership Services committee and oversees all of the benefits afforded to registered members of the society. The Membership Services Chair approves all membership applications, and plans, organizes and executes all of the programming and initiatives provided to society members.
